 Women Who Were Game Changers in Art, Literature and Music

This class is a two-part series.

The first class: An Author, an Artist, and a Composer. Three Talented, Trailblazing Women Defying the Convention of Their Times: Author, Louisa May Alcott, Artist, Suzanne Valadon, and Composer-Musician, Maria Anna Mozart. Louisa May Alcott was a free thinker, abolitionist, and feminist. She led a literary double life, sometimes writing as a male. Suzanne Valadon, started out as a nude model for artists such as Degas, Renoir, and Toulouse-Lautrec, becoming a famous artist herself. Maria Anna Mozart was practically erased from history, but composed some of the music her brother, Wolfgang, has been credited with. 

The Second Class: Women Who Were Game Changers in Literature and Art: Author, Jane Austen revolutionized literature using narrative voice and focus on the intricacies of everyday life. Artist, Johanna Bonger changed the art world by promoting the legacy and art of her brother-in-law, Vincent van Gogh, after his death. George Sand (Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin) impacted the literary world by challenging gender norms and societal expectations for women in the 19th century.
