Course Description
Instructor: Scott Phillips
Join us on Friday, March 21st 10am, for a screening and discussion of 2014 film, Coherence. In this mind-bending sci-fi thriller, 8 friends at a dinner party start experiencing strange and mysterious events on the night a comet is passing close to Earth. Coherence is a 2013 American science fiction psychological thriller film written and directed by James Ward Byrkit in his directorial debut. The film had its world debut on September 19, 2013, at Fantastic Fest and stars Emily Foxler as a woman who must deal with strange occurrences following the close passing of a comet. Byrkit came up with the idea for Coherence after deciding that he wanted to test the idea of shooting a film "without a crew and without a script".

BIO: Scott Phillips: Currently working for Forbes, I published my first film review in 1988 when I was a student at the University of Georgia’s Grady School of Journalism. For the last three years, I’ve reviewed films and written about filmmakers for two CBS affiliates with audiences stretching across Alabama, Florida and Georgia. I'm currently the President of the Southeastern Film Critics Association (SEFCA). I’m a Rotten Tomatoes-approved critic and have memberships in the Atlanta Film Critics Circle, the Georgia Film Critics Association, and the Online Film Critics Society. I scour the festival circuit every year looking for those under-the-radar gems that so often get overlooked. I’ve spent years recommending quality films so my readers can spend their precious spare time watching films instead of hunting for them.
