Course Description

Instructor: Herb Spasser

 

This course will focus on some of the more important wine growing regions of the world. We will show similarities and differences due to various soils, climate, and wine making techniques. The sessions will include, South America (Chile and Argentina), The Great Red Rivalry (Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot), The Pinot Noir Challenge (California vs Burgundy), and The Wonderful Rhone.

 

Appropriate wines will be tasted. All students must bring two wine glasses to class with them each week. 

 

 Bio: Dr. Spasser is a retired dentist and former clinical professor at NYU College of Dentistry. He is a Certified Wine Educator with the Society of Wine Educators and has visited almost all the significant wine regions of the world. He has been giving wine courses in New York, New Jersey, and Atlanta since 1976. He is Bailli Honoraire and Grand/Commandeur of the Atlanta Chaine des Rotisseurs and was Wine Adviser to the Restaurant Society of New York. He is a wine judge, lecturer and writer and has presented various sessions at meetings and cruises.
