Course Description

This four-week course will introduce four Georgia artists from a variety of artistic perspectives such as fabric art, choreography, and the visual arts.

June 1 - Ricardo Aponte is the founder and artistic Director of the Theatre Platform Project and is an Atlanta based director/choreographer. His work has been seen in most of Atlanta's theaters. He has taught for Emory's OLLI program for the past six years teaching dance classes to adults 50+.

June 8 - Elizabeth Katherine Porcel completed foundational studies at the Pratt Institute and completed her BFA in painting at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta. Her studio practice has been focused on the reflection of the feminine divine in nature, biology and bestiaries.

June 15 - Holly Nelson is a fabric artist in Blairsville, Ga. teaching felting and dyeing classes for over 17 years. She offers over 20 different classes in dyeing, ecoprinting, wet felting and needle felting. Holly observes that the versatility of the fiber arts is broad and amazing making both visual 2D artwork, sculptural 3D artwork, and wearables as well as functional pieces for the home.

June 22 - Lisa Tuttle

Her most recent project, Postcolonial Karma, looks at the history of race in the South and its portrayal visually. the project addresses Confederate monuments and their removal or alteration to a form that is accurate with history. https://www.instagram.com/artistlisatuttle/?hl=en
