Course Description

Learn how to encourage the strengths and creativity  of introverts and extroverts on your team in ways that can contribute to your bottom line. Promote better  staff relationships among those with different personality traits.

Course Outline

Lesson 1. Identify your personality style as well as the individual strengths of that style

  • Complete warm-up introduction exercise, agenda review and housekeeping.
  • Complete the Introversion/Extroversion assessment and review and discuss results.
  • Define introversion and extroversion and how I/E preferences affect work and the workplace.

Lesson 2. Establish the biological basis of personality

  • Become familiar with the basic science behind introversion and extroversion.
  • Demonstrate the influence of biology on I/E preferences and on the adaptability of people and behavior.

Lesson 3. Define approaches for giving and receiving feedback for each personality style to maintain the delicate balance of effective relationships in the workplace.

  • Learn and practice a behavior-based model for giving and receiving feedback to the opposite style.
  • Discuss the work effect of I/E preferences on observing and interpreting behavior.

Lesson 4. Reframe conflict as normal and necessary and address how we can leverage positive results from the opposite personality.

  • Define conflict and the different approach to handling conflict in the workplace.
  • Use a model on how to engage with each style in productive conflict.
  • Lesson 5. Identify specific actions to take with your work team and others based upon what has been learned to sustain success.
  • Explore how to take care of the introverts and extroverts in your work life.
  • Review content of the day and turn the key ideas into specific workplace actions for everyday use.

Learner Outcomes

After completing this course, participants will be able to:
