Course Description

Instructors: Jill Parks and Tim Minor

This course will talk about these fascinating women, and others, whom you wish you could have met when they were making history.

Wouldn’t you have liked to have known famous women when they were doing what made them famous? Imagine knowing the sisters who founded Spellman College, or the women who drove overland, by themselves or with another women, from Paris or Geneva to Kabul, Afghanistan or from New Delhi, India overland, alone, to Geneva?  How about meeting Ida Tarbell, the first women to fly in an airplane, as a passenger, and then reporting about the experience?  And what about the two sisters, Freddie and Truus Oversteegen  who spent their teenage years luring Nazis to their death by seducing them, or Annie Londonderry, the first woman who rode around the world on a bicycle?
