Course Description

Instructor:  Emanuel Abramovits

A four-class course via Zoom with anecdotes, humor and strong support from audiovisuals to explore the lifes of famous Classical Music composers who overcame war and prejudice, relocated to the USA during the 20th century, like Gustav Mahler, Daius Milhaud Arnold Schoenberg, and left a legacy of innovation and quality. We'll continue with renowned bold composers born in the US that have shaped the sounds of the 20th and 21st centuries, like Philip Glass and Leonard Bernstein and violin virtuosos of several generations, like Eugene Ysaye, Jascha Heifetz, Isaac Stern and Joshua Bell.

 

Emanuel Abramovits has been a concert promoter since 2000, directly involved in many concerts by international artists, like Itzhak Perlman, Gustavo Dudamel, Sarah Brightman, Roger Hodgson, ASIA, Journey, Kenny G and many more. Designed and staged many original orchestral events, including an Event of the Year winner and several world premiers. He served as the Cultural Director at UNION ISRAELITA DE CARACAS from 2008 to 2019, releasing books, organizing film cycles, concerts and art exhibits. He has been consistently teaching online and in presence across the US since 2020.
