Course Description

Instructor: Peter Campos

Many of our generation collected stamps, or inherited a stamp collection from relatives. If this is true for you, whether you are a collector or not, some day you will have to face the question: What do I do with all these stamps? In this one-day class I will give essential information to help you address that issue, as well as entertain questions or discussions about your own collections. The initial part of the class will be a presentation about three key issues essential to deciding what to do with your stamps: Identification, Valuation, and Maintenance of philatelic material. After outlining these points, we shall examine Disposition, what options you have for your collection. I will draw on my experiences from 60 years of accumulating stamps, 40 years of studying specialized collections, and 20 years of donating, auctioning, and selling my material. This class will work best as an interactive meeting, and I encourage you to bring your questions and to talk about what you have in your collection. Even if you don't have a stamp collection, this material may be helpful for other areas of collecting.
