BORDEAUX 101
In this four-week course, we will cover the fundamentals of this famous wine region, including its history, geography, grape varieties, appellation system, and classifications. We will also taste a fine, aged Bordeaux, as we discuss Bordeaux's aging potential. This series will take the mystery out of Bordeaux terms and wine labels, giving you the tools to order and purchase Bordeaux with confidence.
Four wines will be tasted at each class. Cheese and crackers will be provided. Participants are asked to bring two wine glasses to each class.
Bio: Kelleen Hubbs is the Grand Regent of the Commanderie de Bordeaux USA, an organization with approximately 1300 members, which was founded in New York in 1957. She is an accredited Sommelier and formerly taught the International Sommelier Guild Wine Fundamentals I & II courses. She passed the Wine and Spirit Education Trust Level 3 exam with distinction and is a Wine Society of Wine Educators Certified Specialist of Wine. As the Commanderie de Bordeaux's head of education, Kelleen routinely leads Bordeaux wine classes and tastings both within and outside of the organization. She also plans wine events and leads tastings of wines from other world regions for corporations and other private groups.
