2573 - On Gratitude
Course Description
Instructor: Ross Friedman
I will be teaching a two-session literature class this summer based primarily upon the theme of gratitude. The course be comprised of poems, short stories, essays, plays and speeches, songs, movie scenes, and teacher readings. It will run eleven weeks with no overlap; and extending the gratitude motif, scholars may sign up for the short session, long session, or both for the price of one.
I have been looking forward to returning to the classroom for 18 months for “collective effervescence" --the sense of energy and harmony people feel when they come together in a group around a shared purpose--and now that most of us are double-boosted I plan to make the class a worthwhile and enjoyable experience no matter how many weeks you can attend. Come when you can; vacation when you should; stay home if you have the sniffles.
We’ll sit distanced—“spaced out” would have been a poor choice of words—and talk about enjoyable literature.
