Are you ready for The Obama Portraits Tour, coming to Atlanta High Museum of Art, in January 2022? Join this hands-on primer to explore identity and power in portraiture. Create your own self portrait (relax – it’s just a collage). Compare historical symbols of stature with modern interpretations of possibility. Learn about the techniques of the painters – Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald. And, dive into the story of Parker Curry - the little girl photographed in awe of the exhibit in 2018. You'll leave prepared to take in these groundbreaking images on your own. This course does not include tickets to the exhibition. Needed for class: 

For Class #1: students will need collage materials - magazines, scissors, glue/tape.

For Course #2: students will need a blank sheet of paper and something to sketch with - a pencil, pen or sharpie marker
