Course Description
Instructor: Bill Fletcher
The fabulous exploits of Alexander the Great spring to life in the pages and illustrations of Persian and Arabic literature, beginning 1300 years after his death and continuing another 400 years. We will see why his military prowess inspired the likes of Genghis Khan, Napoleon, British imperialists, and Bismarck. We will also see him as a fearless explorer, even descending below the sea and ascending into the heavens. Finally, we will see him as a seeker of wisdom, philosopher king, prophet of two religions, and restless searcher for immortality. Along the way he will encounter many strange wonders.
