Doo-Wop from the 1940s to the 1960s” looks at and listens to the development of this music genre that began in the subways, on street corners, in school hallways and even bathrooms, anywhere that provided great acoustics. Music producers and agents began paying attention to the teenagers that gathered in these locations to challenge other singing groups as to who reigned as the neighborhood singing group. The bird groups like the Orioles, The Penguins, and the Ravens topped the charts briefly and other groups like the Platters, The Silhouttes, The Limelites, and the Monotones made music that we still enjoy today. Join in for another earful of the music of our youth.
