Since the earliest days of the English colonies in North America, African-Americans have made significant contributions to the military history of the United States. This course will examine the roles the African-American have played for over two hundred and fifty years they have had to fight two enemies - the opponent on the battlefield and Jim Crow at home. From the Revolution to the current War on Terrorism, we will examine the struggles they faced, the gallantry and bravery demonstrated in battle and hostility from some of their fellow countryman.
