Course Description

Instructor: John Bayne

Starts: Tuesday, October 5,  4 weeks

Time: 2-3PM

Richard Strauss (1864-1949) wrote a variety of operas, a dozen in number. One of the earliest, "Salome," with a text by Oscar Wile, so shocked the Metropolitan Opera audience at its first performance in 1907 that it was withdrawn after a single performance, and didn't reappear there for decades. This 4-week course offers insights into Strauss's life and works, with presentations and videos.
