Instructor: Jill and Bert Parks
2 Weeks
Time: 11:15-12:45PM
This class continues a feast of a rich and diverse group of Russian writers, with a tremendous range of styles. We will be continuing part I, reading stories from four Russian writers, including women writers and some modern writers. Writers for Part II include Lidiya Zinovyeva-Annibal, Vera Inber, Andrey Platonov, Vasily Shukshin. Whether written in reaction to the cruelty of the bourgeoisie, the bureaucracy of communism, or the torture of the prison camps, they offer a wonderfully wide-ranging and exciting representation of one of the most vital and enduring forms of Russian literature by a master translator, Robert Chandler..
