This fast-paced course presents definitions, statistics, stories, and issues concerning human migration. Using a wide range of resources, including reports from think tanks and nongovernmental organizations, U.S. law, personal experience, and both fiction and nonfiction reading, the instructor decodes the language of migration and frames current events for future thought. Learn the historical context of migrant classifications and the effect these definitions have on individual lives. Leave with a list of readings and resources to help you become an informed consumer of news about migration and potential reforms to immigration policies.
