Instructor: Jim Mengert“Julius Caesar� and “Coriolanus� are not among Shakespeare’s best plays, but they reward a careful reading for many reasons. One in particular is the fact that they are his only plays in which “the people� play a prominent, indeed, decisive role. In our current environment of resurgent “populism,� variously defined, we may find that even here Shakespeare is still our contemporary.
