Course Description

Instructor: Emanuel Abramovits

A six classes course on the contribution of Jewish artists, composers, producers, record label executives, etc. to the music of the 20th century, and their fascinating connection with another minority, the Afro-American, that shaped the music, the entertainment industry and American popular culture. The individual classes include Broadway Musicals, Tin Pan Alley, Jazz, Blues, Rock, etc.

About Emanual Abramovits: Concerts promoter since 2000, directly involved in many shows by international artists, like Itzhak Perlman, Gustavo Dudamel, Sarah Brightman, Roger Hodgson, Kansas, Megadeth, Dream Theater, Slash, Backstreet Boys, ASIA, Journey, Kenny G and all main local Symphony Orchestras. Designed and staged many original orchestral events, like MOZARTFEST, PINK FLOYD NUESTRO TRIBUTO (Event of the Year winner) and several world premieres. Cultural Director at UNION ISRAELITA DE CARACAS from 2008 to 2019, in charge of book releases, art exhibitions, lectures, film cycles, orchestral concerts, etc.
