Course Description

Instructor: Shai Robkin

America’s democracy is broken. Candidates at all levels of government get elected without majority support of voters. Perhaps even worse has been the total disintegration of civil political discourse; you can’t even talk to someone from the other side, much less engage in polite debate about the issues of the day. There are those who believe that American hyper-partisanship and political tribalism are beyond repair. But changing how we vote has the potential to change how our leaders lead, how they talk to us and how we talk to each other. The solution is not new; we simply need to adopt a system that’s used in many places around the world, including some American cities such as NYC and even one state, Maine. It’s called Ranked Choice Voting (RCV), also commonly referred to as Instant Runoff Voting. Learn how RCV works and how you can be a part of making it a reality in Georgia.
