Course Description
Instructor: Nancy WatkinsCome join us to learn more about gerrymandering, redistricting, and elections in Georgia: how gerrymandering affects everyday life in Georgia, how citizens have resisted unfair changes in maps, what Georgia maps have looked like 2000-2020, and the differences between good vs gerrymandered voting districts. In addition, we will bust some myths about gerrymandering and think about the possibilities for redistricting reform in 2021 and 2022. You will also learn what you can do to ensure a fair, impartial, and transparent redistricting process in Georgia. The speakers represent Fair Districts GA, a non-partisan 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization that works to pass and implement redistricting reforms in Georgia. Speakers include Nancy B. Watkins (Session 1), Ken Lawler and Karen McCown (Session 2), Janet Grant (Session 3), and Pat Byrd (Session 4).
