Instructor: Lawrence Saul

The Russo–German War, 1941–45: Operation Barbarossa was the largest military operation in history — more men, tanks, guns and aircraft were deployed than in any other offensive. The German invasion of the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, unleashed a war of far-reaching strategic consequences. By November 1941, the Germans were at the door of Moscow, leaving massive carnage from their string of military victories in the western regions of Russia. This titanic clash, a life-or-death struggle between the two most evil dictators of the 20th century, was characterized by brutality, unprecedented violence, epic battles of massive proportions and casualties of unimaginable numbers.
