Hawaii! Just the name passionately evokes paradise, tropical bliss, and soulful calmness. But there is much more to it than the tourist and recreational vision of the islands. In this class we will visit the main islands and sights and explore the history, heritage, and myriad ethnicities that make up the unique culture of the Hawaiian islands and people. Each week features a different island or islands, where we will cover the topics above, and I’ll talk about sample visiting itineraries.. On the final week I’ll go over basic information every visitor should know, provide resources and travel hints, and answer any questions not dealt with earlier. We will even learn a little of the language and, perhaps if you’re adventuresome, a song or two (ukulele players are encouraged to provide accompaniment). Aloha!
