Course Description

Instructor: Caroline Miklosovic

We will read and discuss the plays. I will include powerpoints with slides depicting the location of the action. We will view video clips of the plays on stage. Background will include the Oracle at Delphi and the impact it had upon life in ancient Greece. In the discussion, we will broach the importance of the soothsayer and the messenger in Greek drama. We will also look at the production of the plays and the theaters in which they were performed.

Plays we will read Oedipus Rex, Antigone, and Oedipus at Colonus.
