Course Description

Presenter: Daisy Alliance

In 1947, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists debuted its famous doomsday clock, a design that is intended to warn the public about the imminence of the totality of threats (threats of our own making) that humanity faces. In January 2020, the minute hand on the atomic clock was moved anly 100 seconds from midnight, the closest it has ever been. A year later, in 2021 the minute hand was left in place, symbolizing the lack of sustained progress in mitigating these threats.
This talk will feature experts from The Daisy Alliance, a non-partisan, non- governmental organization that promotes peace and security through non-proliferation and disarmament of nuclear weapons and the rules of international law.

They will discuss, among other subjects:
• The role of nuclear weapons international politics in the post cold-war period
