Course Description

Leadership is a critical part of helping employees achieve higher performance levels. This interactive workshop helps supervisors and managers build the skills they need to be effective leaders and explore their own leadership potential. Participants will complete a detailed self-assessment to receive feedback about their own leadership style and its effectiveness in their role of leading others. The recommended supplemental book for this course is The Work of Leaders: How Vision, Alignment, and Execution Will Change the Way You Lead .

Completion of a brief, online assessment prior to the course is required; to ensure timely analysis, we recommend enrolling at least 3-5 days prior to course start date.

  • Identify your values, leadership and management preferences
  • Assess your leadership style 
  • Understand the pros and cons of various leadership styles 
DiSC Work of Leaders
  • Analyze your style based on the DiSC assessment Work of Leaders 
  • Learn the "best practices" of leaders based on research 
  • Understand the components of crafting a vision, building alignment, and successful execution 
Sharpen Leadership Communication Skills 
  • Learn the power of active listening and paraphrasing 
  • Practice the elements of directive communication 
  • Craft a vision based on best practice research 
Practice Effective Execution 
  • Learn the elements of execution (momentum, structure, feedback)
  • Practice constructing a tactical framework to effectively plan changes and manage performance plans 
  • Practice giving and receiving focused feedback to improve performance
