Course Description

Working and learning remotely comes with a unique set of challenges, most importantly, keeping your audience engaged, ensuring they fully understand you, and connecting with current and new colleagues. This course, broken up into three focus areas, will address:

1. online presentations,
2. implementing professional voice and body language, and
3. transitioning in-person networking online.

This is a course designed for those seeking a hands-on experience as with each session you are invited to bring projects (e.g. presentations or elevator pitches) that you are currently seeking to improve.

Learner Outcomes

After completing this self-paced course, the learner should be able to:

• Apply vocal techniques to keep your audience alert and focused
• Create slides that help your audience follow you
• Apply specific language to discuss your visuals (graphs, charts, images,) with clarity and purpose
• Adopt a professional, engaging, and confident persona when participating in online communication tasks
• Test optimal body and face positioning; apply meaningful, synchronized gestures, facial energy, and vocal energy; practice making eye contact with the camera, and consider lighting and background choices
• Clearly identify your goal and your audience to tailor your modified ‘elevator speech’ to specific scenarios and use conversational strategies to connect with others
