Course Description
Instructor: Ross Friedman
Join us for an enjoyable, thoughtful, and entertaining exploration of one of Shakespeare's most famous works, Hamlet. Whether you are discovering the play for the first time or revisiting an old favorite, this seven-week course will bring Shakespeare's unforgettable characters, powerful speeches, and remarkable artistry to life.
Together, we will read much of the play in class, focusing on its major speeches, memorable scenes, and Shakespeare's masterful use of language. Class participation is highly encouraged, though never required, and the instructor looks forward to bringing many of the characters to life himself. Swords will not be provided!
Along the way, we may also explore memorable speeches from other Shakespearean plays because…why not? After all, it is not often that a great tragedy can be so much fun!
No prior knowledge of Shakespeare is necessary. All are welcome.
