Course Description
Instructor: Tom Dell
We will listen to and talk about songs that were banned by various organizations, government and others, in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. For some, the reasons were obvious to most folks; others were banned for obscure and silly reasons. In any event, find out why Bing Crosby couldn't croon one of his tunes and Cole Porter had to change some of his lyrics. Them, The Kingsmen, and The Dave Clark Five didn't fare any better.
Bio: I have been a musician since 1957 and have taught my Rock and Roll courses at Emory OLLI, Brenau BULLI, and six or seven other senior organizations for the past10 years. I have an advanced degree in playing music in sleazy bars and clubs, and a BBA from Georgia State University.
