Instructor: Jeff Glazer
Tom Lehrer was a writer of satirical songs during the 1950s and 1960s who developed an almost cult-like following over the years. This class will examine many of his best-known songs, from Fight Fiercely, Harvard and Poisoning Pigeons in the Park to The Elements and I'm Spending Hanukkah in Santa Monica. Since his passing in 2025, there has been renewed interest in his work. Along the way, you'll gain fascinating insights into his life and music, along with a couple of surprises.
Bio: Jeff Glazer loves to teach. Although many of his classes are technology-related, he has an eclectic repertoire. His classes include biographies of Tom Lehrer, Stan Freberg, and Nikola Tesla as well as subjects such as Being an Introvert, and Living With ADHD.
In his past life, Jeff owned a small printing business in Trenton, NJ and was an Adjunct Professor in Graphic Arts at Rider University. Jeff also has more than ten years’ experience teaching OLLI classes at the University of South Carolina Beaufort.
