Course Description

Instructor: Colin Mackey

Take a deep dive into the novel Frankenstein as it was originally published in 1818. In this four-week course, we will delve into the original text together in a discussion class exploring the ideas of man playing God, the tension between science and art, and the reasons why Mary Shelley felt she needed to publish her original work anonymously before changing it and republishing the version, which has become a school staple, under her own name in 1836.
