Napoleon Bonaparte (1769–1821) was one of the greatest generals in history. As well, he became Emperor of France from 1804 to 1814, and briefly in 1815. He is renowned for his military campaigns during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, as well as for implementing significant legal and administrative reforms, including the Napoleonic Code, which influenced many legal systems worldwide. We will look at his great campaigns, his contributions to the art of war, and his colorful life.
Bio: Col (Ret) Lawrence H. Saul served for a total of 37 years in the U.S. Army, with more than 20 of those years overseas. His service included tours in Germany, Holland, Belgium, England, Kosovo, and many other locations. He was one of the last veterans of the Vietnam War still serving on active duty when he retired in 2008. He holds a BA in U.S. History from Georgia State University and two Master’s degrees.
