3543 - Tariffs and International Relations (Beth Skinner)
Course Description
Instructor: Beth Skinner
Current tariff policy is focused on creating a revenue source for the United States and
encouraging stronger domestic investment. But these tariffs, as implemented, have contributed to the unraveling of an international trade system that the U.S. itself helped establish and support since the end of World War II. The current policy comes at the cost of disrupting long-standing trade relationships. Why does this matter if the United States is the world’s most powerful nation? Why shouldn’t we use that leverage to generate more revenue? And what long-term concerns should corporations and businesses be attentive to moving forward? These questions and more will be explored during this timely presentation on tariffs and international relations
