Course Description

Instructor: Beth Skinner

As the world has changed with science, industrialization, technology, then digitization, the role of myths has been relegated to fantasy television shows and movies on the big screen. But is that really the case? In reality, myths are operating within human society and have done so throughout history. In fact, myths are an important storytelling-tool (art) which human beings often derive great benefit from. We will consider how myths have influenced human development and civilization as we learn from a range of myths from various cultures, in various times, and in many settings. What do you think the advertising industry considers as one of their layered elements in making an effective commercial?
