Join OLLI instructor Howard Cohen for his 6-week course this fall, featuring three vibrant 15-minute videos each class that bring to life the fascinating stories behind iconic artworks. Through engaging narratives, writer, curator, and educator James Payne unravels the biographies of renowned artists and explores the cultural, artistic, and societal influences that shaped their masterpieces. Other art historians will be accessed, artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Johannes Vermeer, Frida Kahlo, and Caravaggio are among those highlighted.
Following each video, you’ll enjoy music that reflects the era of the artwork, setting the perfect atmosphere for deeper appreciation. Each session concludes with an interactive class discussion to share insights and reflections.
Bio: Howard has 35 years of experience in the music industry. He taught music at the American School in Rio De Janeiro, managed the Rizzoli International Music company, and was owner of an International Records and Music company.
