The program covers the history and benefits of mushrooms dating back to ancient Eastern medicine to today's culinary and medicinal applications. Featured will be the benefits of 10 healthy mushrooms that can help lower blood pressure, strengthen the immune system, reduce tumors, promote healthy skin, and improve mental acuity. Also profiled will be some of the emerging functional applications of mushrooms including artificial leather, construction materials, packaging products, bioremediation, and many more! Bio: Jeff Dufresne owns and operates Pax Domus Farm in Milton, Georgia where he grows a variety of mushrooms including: Shiitake, Lion's Mane, Reishi, Maitake and Turkey Tail and also produces value-added medicinal mushroom products. He is a Lifetime Member of the Mushroom Club of Georgia and North American Mycological Association (NAMA). Jeff grew up on a dairy farm in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts and was educated at Deerfield Academy, Trinity College and Columbia University before starting his professional career in Atlanta in 1985.
