Course Description

Instructor: Frances Reed

Essentials of entertaining at home, from plan to pleasure, concept to kudos! Provide hospitality with ease, confidence, and style. By the end of the course, participants will be able to plan and produce a small home gathering, to compose and prepare do-able and satisfying menus, to put guests at ease, and to foster friendly connections. Students may find that they inspire others to reciprocate!

Students will be invited to participate in a creative pot-luck event at the last class meeting.

Bio: Frances Reed has been entertaining folks at home most of her life. She has worked as a designer of social stationeries, as a teacher of mathematics and English, and as a school secretary. She entertained on her mother’s behalf almost every Friday evening for a decade, when the elder hostess no longer had the physical stamina to do everything herself but still wanted everything to be just so. Frances cooks, bakes, arranges flowers, and collects pretty things with which to set the table.
