3465 - Brain and Body Fitness - Everyday Tools for a Sharper Brain and Stronger Body (Sandy Bramlet)
Course Description
Instructor: Sandy Bramlet
This course is not a traditional exercise class, but rather an engaging exploration of how everyday movement and sensory stimulation can support brain health and physical vitality. Grounded in the science of neuroplasticity and neurogenesis, the class highlights how physical activity—especially when it challenges the brain—can enhance executive function, memory, imagination, and overall mental agility.
Participants will learn about the consequences of physical and cognitive inactivity, and how targeted movement can slow age-related cognitive decline. We’ll discuss and experience the relationship between movement, the senses, and brain function through Ageless Grace®—a brain and body fitness program consisting of 21 simple tools based on natural, everyday movements. These seated activities are designed to stimulate core strength, joint mobility, spinal flexibility, balance, and breath, all while enhancing cognitive performance and reaction time.
Bio: Sandy began her professional career teaching high school in Metro Atlanta, and in the late 70s was recruited into the computer industry as a trainer and support analyst, later starting her own training business. In order to bring her life into more balance, Sandy looked to exercise, and found Callanetics. The benefits of this new mind/body exercise were so remarkable that Sandy wanted to learn more. She became an ardent student of Callanetics, leaving the computer training business to open the first Callanetics Studio in Atlanta. In addition to Callanetics, Sandy is a Nia (Neuromuscular Integrative Action) Black Belt Teacher, ChiWalking Instructor and a Certified Ageless Grace Educator and Trainer. In over 25 years as a mind/body wellness coach, Sandy has sought out techniques that are effective, body-honoring, creative and fun. Her philosophy is that exercise should feel good inside and out, that fitness means being able to move with ease, to learn new things, to rediscover and use your creative gifts, and to do what you love to do with confidence and joy - for a lifetime. Sandy teaches mindful movement classes in Metro Atlanta, and is a frequent presenter on the body/mind connection, creativity, stress management and personal empowerment.
