3435 - What’s Up with Greenland? (Jeff Milsteen)
Course Description
Instructor: Jeff Milsteen
This is NOT a repeat of Jeff's previous class about Greenland. All new!
What’s Up with Greenland?
Greenland, the largest island in the world, is a mostly uninhabited place covered by an ice sheet that is more than a mile thick. It sits atop North America and mostly lies inside the Arctic Circle. And suddenly, everyone wants a piece of it. Denmark wants to control it, Donald Trump wants to buy it, China wants to mine it and Russia would love to control the shipping routes around it. Most of the 50,000 Greenlanders who actually live there simply want their independence. Why is this frozen, mostly barren land suddenly in such demand?
Join Jeff Milsteen for a look at the fascinating history and precarious future of this ice-covered island.
