Course Description
Decision-making and problem-solving are critically important skills for public health, allied health, and other first responder professionals. This course will help multidisciplinary practitioners enhance their ability to manage and identify current and potential problems during disruptions that create geopolitical tensions. Timely decisions before and during an event can affect the lives and well-being of impacted communities and make a difference in how quickly residents and businesses recover. Major topics to be covered include an applied case study approach to various aspects of environmental health, including groundwater contamination, chemical exposure, vector and infectious disease control, roadway infrastructure, and electrical systems.Learner Outcomes
- Communicate with cross-disciplinary leaders and team members.
- Describe the health consequences of organizations not being prepared to respond to significant threats and the cascading risks posed to society.
- Recognize how to assess risks in various situations and make recommendations for needed improvements.
