3292 - Women, Power and Politics in the USA (Beth Skinner)
Course Description
Instructor: Beth Skinner
What is a 'woman's place'? The United States has yet to see a woman president, yet other advanced democracies have already welcomed a woman in the top spot. At a time when women are competing for elected office at every level there remain challenges unique to the U.S. What are those challenges & are they immutable? We'll consider the role of misogyny, religion, tradition, and even the current 'gender-conflict' as potential contributors to the challenge. Then, we'll also look at a range of women who have successfully demonstrated their competency & leadership abilities as we consider the changing dynamics of women, power, & politics in the U.S.
