Course Description

Instructor: Emanuel Abramovits

 

 

Musicals have been a major part of American theater, from the Tin Pan Alley-driven comedy works of the early part of the 20th century to the integrated musicals that flourished in the heyday years of midcentury America. We'll also explore book musicals, concept musicals, and the arrival of European mega-productions late in the century. We'll profile some of the theater world's leading composers, lyricists, writers, choreographers, directors, performers and will study some of the most unforgettable shows, like Oklahoma, My Fair Lady, Showboat, Guys and Dolls, Company, Hair, Cabaret, Rent, Wicked, Hamilton and many more.

 

 

Bio: Emanuel Abramovits has been a concert promoter since 2000, directly involved in many concerts by international artists, like Itzhak Perlman, Gustavo Dudamel, Sarah Brightman, Roger Hodgson, ASIA, Journey, Kenny G and many more. Designed and staged many original orchestral events, including an Event of the Year winner and several world premiers. He served as the Cultural Director at UNION ISRAELITA DE CARACAS from 2008 to 2019, releasing books, organizing film cycles, concerts and art exhibits. He has been consistently teaching online and in person across the US since 2020.
