Course Description

Individuals with doctoral degrees pursue fulfilling careers in virtually every sector. There are many steps you can take now to prepare for the multiplicity of career options available to you as a doctoral student. This course will provide an overview of career planning and exploration for doctoral students who want to get a head start.

The three course meetings will address:

1. Self-Assessment,
2. Career Exploration, and
3. Tailoring a Resume.

Doctoral students at any stage are encouraged to enroll.

Learner Outcomes

After completing this self-paced course, the learner should be able to:

• Articulate their skills, interests, and values
• Develop an Individual Development Plan (IDP)
• Explore and research at least one employer
• Analyze a job advertisement
• Produce a tailored resume for a specific job opportunity.
